“As the population ages, more caregiving is being provided by people who aren’t health care professionals. About 1 in 3 adults in the United States provides care to other adults as informal caregivers,” According to MayoClinic.org.

Providing care to older adults can be stressful, physically and mentally. As a caregiver, it is helpful to be able to relieve that stress and take care of yourself. To help relieve stress, here are some tips from the Mayo Clinic:
1. Set realistic goals. Prioritize, make lists, and break large tasks into smaller ones.
2. Get connected. Find out about caregiver resources in your community.
3. Accept help.
4. Focus on what you are able to provide. Understand that no one is a “perfect” caregiver.
5. Set personal health goals.
6. Join a support group.
